Why we color with Davines

We believe Davines is the best-quality color around, which means we are working with a higher grade of color than many salons choose. Two things decide how your color turns out. The first is the condition of your hair, and that has a lot to do with the quality of the products you use on it. The second is the color itself: your hair color can only be as good as the color it is made with.

Color is the easiest place in a salon to cut corners, because the grade of color never shows on a menu. It shows on your hair, in how the color looks and feels in the weeks after you leave, and in our experience that is the difference people see. So every color service here uses Davines, a company founded in Parma, Italy in 1983 that works with ingredients of natural origin. We sell Davines hair care too, so what you use at home suits the color in your hair. Aveda is our hair care and styling line; it is never used for color. Which color service is right for you

Start with what you want your color to do, not the name of a technique. Each price is a range across our stylists and how much hair there is.

I want it brighter, with dimension

Flash Highlight, $125-$175, is a subtle brush of brightness and dimension near the part line and hairline: the easiest place to start if you have never been lightened, or if your color only needs waking up around the face. For brightness that starts right at the root, foils lift furthest: Partial Foil $170-$255, 3/4 Foil $185-$285, Full Foil $195-$300, or Partial Foil w/ Root Touch Up $190-$235 if your roots need covering in the same visit. The highlights and foils page walks through each one.

If you would rather it grow out soft, balayage is painted on by hand, so it grows out without a line: Partial Balayage $190-$265 and Complete Balayage $205-$310. Neither foils nor balayage is more advanced than the other, and plenty of people have both in one head. See balayage in Broomfield and what balayage costs here.

I want my grey covered, or softened

To cover it, Root Touch Up is $100-$145 when your lengths still look right and only the regrowth has changed, and All Over Color / Root Touch Up is $135-$190 when the ends have faded too, with the option to add a toner or gloss over the ends. Both are on the all-over color and root touch-up page.

To soften it, Grey Blending is $195-$285: a low-light service made for grey, placed so the line at your part grows out gradually instead of as a hard edge. The grey blending page covers moving away from years of coverage.

I want the color I have, fresher and shinier

Gloss & Shine is $55-$85. It puts tone and shine back into the color you already have, and it is the usual in-between visit for highlights and balayage when your color looks dull or brassy but the placement is still right.

I want to be blonde all over

All Over Blonde is $180-$210: one blonde across the whole head rather than placed in pieces. If the look you saved has lighter and darker pieces in it, that is Complete Balayage, Total Blonde, $265-$365, or a Full Foil. How far your hair can lift in one visit depends on where it starts, so a big blonde change is sometimes planned over more than one appointment.

I want color that went wrong, fixed

Color Correction is $300-$355, for box dye gone wrong, brassy or uneven tone, or a result you did not want. It books online like any other color service, with Nicole, Jadyn, Ally, Amanda or Miles. After you book, give us a call so your stylist knows what is in your hair ahead of time and the appointment is the right length. The color correction page has the details.

I want to go darker for fall

Fall is a color season here. If you want dimension brought up to the roots, that books as a highlight service, such as a Flash Highlight or Partial Foil, toned down afterwards with a Gloss & Shine. If you do not need the dimension, All Over Color / Root Touch Up puts the deeper tone and the gloss in one appointment. Can you go darker for fall and keep the dimension? explains how.

How color pricing works

Every color price on our menu includes one 40-gram bowl of color. Thicker, denser or longer hair that needs more color, and a toner on top of the service, are add-ons, so two people can book the same service and pay different amounts. The Broomfield hair salon prices page explains every range, and the full menu is on services and pricing.

What to expect at your color appointment

We talk through the plan before we start, then we get to work. Two things make that conversation more useful:

  • Bring photos of color you like, and a few of real hair closer to your own texture. What photos to bring explains why both help.
  • Tell us what is already on your hair, especially box color, because existing color changes how new color behaves.

A haircut fits into the same visit if you mention it when you book. A keratin smoothing treatment can be done the same day too: the color goes first, and the smoothing takes about three hours on top, so it is a long day.

Keeping color fresh in Colorado

Colorado is hard on color. The air is dry, and drier still indoors once the heat comes on. People often say the sun is harsher here because you are closer to it; the real reason is that there is less atmosphere overhead to absorb UV before it reaches your hair. And the water leaves a mineral residue that makes color look dull before it has actually faded.

Tone is usually the first thing to go, which is why a Gloss & Shine between bigger appointments is the common rhythm. At home, keep heat off the ends and rinse pool or lake water out the same day. Hair color questions

How much does hair color cost in Broomfield?

Here, a Gloss & Shine is $55-$85, a Root Touch Up is $100-$145, highlights start with a Flash Highlight at $125-$175, balayage starts at $190-$265, Grey Blending is $195-$285 and Color Correction is $300-$355. Each price includes one 40-gram bowl of color; more color and a toner are add-ons.

Does the color brand really matter?

We believe it does. Your color can only be as good as the color it is made with, which is why every color service here uses Davines.

How long does a color appointment take?

It depends on the service. A Gloss & Shine or a Flash Highlight is a shorter visit; a Full Foil or Complete Balayage with a toner takes longer, and big changes are sometimes split over more than one visit.

How often should I get my hair colored?

Go by what you see rather than the calendar. When the tone has gone dull, a Gloss & Shine handles it. When the line at your root is the first thing you notice, it is time for a root touch-up or your next highlight. Balayage and grey blending grow out softer, so they stretch further.

What is the difference between grey coverage and grey blending?

Coverage takes the grey away with one color at the root, so regrowth shows as a line. Grey Blending softens the grey instead, so it grows out without a hard edge.

Can I book hair color online?

Yes. Every color service, color correction included, books online on our booking page, or call (720) 240-9391. For color correction, give us a call after you book so your stylist knows what is in your hair.

Which colorist should I book?

For a dramatic change, Nicole or Jadyn. For soft, lived-in color, Amanda or Miles. For grey, Miles or Nicole. For custom color with a long haircut, Ally. For balayage, anyone.
