Davines Color & Hair Care in Broomfield, CO

Davines is our color line at Mahne Roots Collective — and we carry a full range of their products, not just one.

Why Davines

Davines is, hands down, the best color line we've found for Colorado's climate. Their pigment is Italian, and in our experience it gives the most natural-looking result of anything we've tried, without fading the way some color lines do against our sun and our dry air. Their ingredients are sustainably sourced from all over the world — real, high-quality, natural ingredients, not filler dressed up as a trend.

Every color appointment at Mahne Roots is done with Davines, and we also carry Davines' hair care line — shampoo, conditioner, and styling products — for at-home care between visits.

Our Expertise

Science, nature and performance in the service of regenerative beauty. Nature is Davines' primary source of inspiration, and science is the method that guides their work. Through research and innovation, they develop professional hair and skin care products that combine effectiveness, safety, and sustainability. With three research laboratories, four specialized centers of excellence, more than 70 researchers, and constant investment in research and innovation, Davines works to contribute to a model of beauty capable of generating value for people and the planet.

Scientific research is embedded in the DNA of the Davines Group — the desire to develop high-performance, highly sustainable products has always driven their research and development laboratories to select the ingredients and technologies that best achieve that goal.

Davines is a brand built around science and nature. They began as a research and development laboratory, and that drive for innovation and experimentation is just as strong today. Highly effective, cutting-edge products, formulated and packaged following high sustainability standards — performance is a priority, working closely with experts around the world to keep pushing the possibilities of hair care.

Plants as a Laboratory for Innovation

Davines Group research studies the plant world to understand its mechanisms of adaptation and resilience. Through the production of natural metabolites, plants develop responses to environmental stress that represent a valuable source of scientific knowledge.

By analyzing these molecules, Davines develops new active and botanical ingredients capable of meeting the needs of skin and hair with high standards of performance and sustainability. Their teams explore both well-known botanical species and varieties from specific geographic contexts, aiming to identify new properties and applications for cosmetics.

The Contribution of the Green Sciences

Davines' innovation is born from the meeting of different scientific disciplines. Botany, green chemistry, biotechnology, and metabolomics all contribute to developing formulas that combine effectiveness with environmental responsibility.

They invest in technologies that allow them to:

  • Maximize the effectiveness of active ingredients
  • Reduce resource and energy consumption in processes
  • Limit the potential accumulation of substances in the environment
  • Improve sustainability throughout the product life cycle

This approach lets them continue raising the performance standards of their products while contributing to the environmental transformation goals they've set for 2030.

Our Ingredients

Davines prefers natural origin ingredients, and pays close attention to where each one comes from, its quality, and its performance. To guarantee efficacy, they work with universities and research centers around the world to test ingredients, alongside their own rigorous testing.

Part of their ingredients are:

  • Beneficial to biodiversity
  • Natural and organic
  • Tested by multiple entities to ensure quality
  • Low bio-accumulation in the environment

Our Packaging

Sustainability doesn't stop at the formula. Davines products are preferably packaged in recycled or renewably sourced materials, aiming to move away from virgin and fossil-fuel-based materials to reduce environmental impact. Packaging is designed for reduction, reuse, and recovery, minimizing impact if it's ever disposed of.

Their packaging research and development strategy includes:

  • Using less material — lighter packaging while maintaining safety and functionality
  • Simplifying product design, reducing unnecessary components
  • Preferring recycled or renewably sourced materials, phasing out virgin materials
  • Facilitating recycling, including single-material solutions where possible
  • Favoring refillable solutions
  • Optimizing space for logistical distribution, reducing transport-related CO2 emissions

Who Davines is as a company

Davines headquarters and gardens in Parma, Italy

As a B Corp since 2016, Davines believes a company's success should also be measured by its positive impact on people, communities, and nature. They consider the health of ecosystems essential to the well-being of skin and hair — their research stems from the belief that the future of beauty depends on the ability to preserve and regenerate the natural capital we all depend on.

Davines has been a certified B Corporation since 2016, meeting independently verified standards for environmental and social responsibility — they've also been recognized as a B Lab "Best For The World: Environment" honoree. Their manufacturing facility in Parma, Italy runs on 100% renewable energy, and their packaging is carbon neutral through a reforestation partnership. About 80% of their ingredients are organically certified, natural, or naturally derived, and their products are free of harsh chemicals like parabens.

Davines is cruelty-free — no ingredients, formulas, or finished products are tested on animals anywhere in the world. They stopped registering new products in China in 2017 specifically to avoid that country's mandatory animal-testing requirement.

Regenerative organic agriculture, in short

Aerial view of regenerative organic test plots

Regenerative organic agriculture goes further than "sustainable" — instead of just maintaining conditions, it actively restores the land through crop rotation, minimal soil disturbance, and no synthetic pesticides, building healthier soil, increasing biodiversity, and pulling carbon back into the ground.

Hands planting a seedling in regenerative organic soil

Davines built the first regenerative organic research and education center in Europe — the European Regenerative Organic Center (EROC), in partnership with the Rodale Institute — to expand where their ingredients come from, train farmers in these practices, and fund further research. Their reformulated Essential Haircare line sources its active ingredients exclusively from Regenerative Organic Certified farms worldwide, with product labels naming the actual partner farms.

Davines FAQ

Is Davines used for all color services?

Yes — Davines is our color line across the board.

Can I buy Davines products to take home?

Yes — we carry Davines' hair care line (shampoo, conditioner, styling) in the salon, not just their color.

Why does the brand matter for Colorado hair specifically?

Colorado's air is thinner and drier than almost anywhere else in the country, and color products that hold up well in a humid climate can fade or fall flat here. We chose Davines specifically because it holds its result against our sun and dry air in a way other lines we've tried haven't.

Is Davines cruelty-free?

Yes — no ingredients, formulas, or finished products are tested on animals anywhere in the world.

Is Davines a sustainable company?

Yes — they've been a certified B Corporation since 2016, run their Parma, Italy facility on 100% renewable energy, and use carbon-neutral packaging.
