Amanda was born and raised in Colorado, so the effect this climate has on hair isn't theoretical for her — it's what she's worked with her entire career.

In Amanda's words

Hi, I'm Amanda. I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and we have two kids and a cat named Sugar. My family is the most important thing to me, and coming home to them every day is the biggest reward.

I've been doing hair for about two years. I've done a few haircutting classes, and I always tune into a color formulation class online. Hair trends are always changing, and I love to learn new formulas and the “whys” behind them.

I love doing a lived-in color service, something with a soft, natural grow-out. As a mom with a busy schedule, I know sometimes going longer between appointments is what's necessary. When it comes to color, I love working with dimensional blonde or brunette. Right now I'm loving a bright beige blonde, a teddy bear blonde or “bronde,” and mushroom dimension for a brunette.

My favorite product is Davines Oi Oil. It's perfect for all hair types, and I love a good shine that won't weigh hair down.

About two or three weeks into being a stylist on the floor, I did an eight-hour color correction. The outcome was seamless, and it created a good friendship.

Doing hair comes with building a connection with whoever is sitting in my chair. I love connecting with people and hearing their stories. It's a good reminder that you never know what kind of day someone is having, and to always treat people the way you want to be treated. I'd describe myself as easygoing, a listener, adaptable, friendly, hardworking and loyal. My goals are to build a solid clientele, always grow as a stylist, and offer education to upcoming stylists.

On my days off, I absolutely love having a slow morning with my husband and kids, getting outside, and getting a few chores done around the house. I love to do crafts at home: jewelry making, sewing, painting and coloring. My ideal vacation is Disney with my family. If I could do anything, I'd buy some land and farm animals. And when I retire, if my kids have kids of their own, I want to be a stay-at-home grandma, watch the grandbabies, and do some traveling with my husband.
