Aveda has been rooted in plant-based ingredients and real sustainability since before it was trendy to even say that. That matters more here than most places — Colorado sits higher and drier than almost anywhere else in the country, and a product that works fine somewhere humid can fall completely flat here. We didn't land on Aveda overnight, and we've moved on from lines before when they stopped earning their spot on our shelves. Aveda earned it.

We use Aveda on the backbar for styling during your appointment, and carry it retail too. Aveda also makes skin care, but that's not something we carry or sell here — and we don't use Aveda for color, that's Davines.

Why Vegan Ingredients

Vegan ingredients are ingredients that are not animal or animal-derived. Aveda has been cruelty-free since its inception — and always "people-tested" — though a limited number of products historically contained honey and beeswax-derived ingredients. By formulating 100% vegan, Aveda took a landmark step toward its founding mission: to honor the Earth, and its inhabitants.

Responsible & Transparent Sourcing

Aveda's ingredient sourcing process is as responsible and transparent as possible. Ingredients come from all over the globe to promote both ecological and cultural diversity in formulas, with fair wages supporting their partners and purveyors.

One example: Aveda's partnership with Nisarga, an Indian firm that owns farmland and partners with locally owned organic farms to produce the Ayurvedic herbs found in the invati advanced™ system. On transparency, Aveda launched a pilot program in February 2019 using blockchain technology in their Madagascan vanilla supply chain — an immutable reference that verifies ingredient source and quality, enabling traceability that was pioneering in the industry and a strong proof-of-concept for using blockchain in complex personal-care supply chains.

Ginseng & Certified Organic Turmeric — Long used in the Ayurvedic tradition to enhance well-being. Together, these herbs invigorate the scalp when massaged in, helping thicken hair from roots to ends. Found in the invati advanced™ system, for hair loss or thinning hair.

Avocado Oil — A lush, nourishing ingredient ideal for treating damaged hair. Coats the hair cuticle in plant-powered repair, detangling and helping prevent breakage. Found in botanical repair™ strengthening leave-in treatment.

Certified Coconut Oil — Beloved for softening and conditioning, a must-have for dry hair. Penetrates deep into the hair shaft to smooth and repair. Found in nutriplenish™ multi-use hair oil.

Certified Organic Amla — Used in Ayurvedic tradition for thousands of years. Helps thicken hair by increasing the diameter of the hair shaft. Found in invati advanced™ scalp revitalizer, for hair thinning concerns.

Green Tea Oil — Helps condition hair while adding glossy shine, slip, and lustre. Found in botanical repair™ intensive strengthening masque (light and rich).

Finding Your Hydration Routine

Whether fine strands, bouncy curls, or tight coils — hair type and texture are all your own. When dry hair strikes, finding the right nourishment is key. Aveda's scientists work in biotech beauty, where green chemistry meets hair care innovation, to formulate powerful, 100% vegan products for the full range of hair types, textures, colors, and cuts.

The nutriplenish™ collection features superfood ingredients like organic pomegranate oil, organic coconut oil, and lipid-rich mango butter to nourish all hair types, promoting shine, softness, and manageability.

Dry hair happens for a variety of reasons — seasonal weather changes, heat styling, harsh products — which is why all hair types, 1A to 4C, need a boost of moisture. Dry hair is depleted of lipids, the essential molecules that keep hair looking healthy, shiny, and strong; it feels brittle, breaks easily, and loses shine. Properly hydrated hair looks visibly healthy, shiny, and feels soft.

For 1A–3A, fine-to-medium hair: nutriplenish™ light moisture, starring omega-5-rich organic pomegranate oil — replenishing and shine-boosting without weighing down fine strands. Cleanse with the light moisture shampoo, follow with the light moisture conditioner, and use the light moisture treatment masque weekly for 4x the hydration of untreated hair.

For 3B–4C, medium-to-thick hair: nutriplenish™ deep moisture, formulated to deeply nourish thicker hair with 2.5x the plant butters and oils of the light moisture line. Cleanse with the deep moisture shampoo, follow with the deep moisture conditioner, and apply the deep moisture treatment masque weekly.

For oily roots and dry ends: a multi-masking routine — after shampooing, apply the light moisture treatment masque to oily roots; after conditioning, apply the deep moisture treatment masque to dry ends. Rinse, style, and go.

Why does the brand matter for Colorado hair specifically?

Colorado's air is thinner and drier than almost anywhere else in the country, so products that hold up well in a humid climate can underperform here. We choose what we carry based on what actually works in this specific climate, not just what's popular.
