Who Is Cutting Your Hair

  • Nicole Higgins, co-owner: 2016 NAHA Men’s Hairstylist of the Year. The North American Hairstyling Awards named her Men’s Hairstylist of the Year. She worked at GQ Lounge and is trained in barbering, was USA Cutting Director for Balmain Hair Couture, and has done hair for the Met Gala, the Oscars, the Grammys and the Emmys, and for international model Jordan Barrett. Men’s cutting is one of her specialties, from clean, structured cuts to longer editorial shapes.
  • Dylan: licensed Master Barber. Dylan holds the only barbering license on our team. Fades, tapers and short, sharp shapes are his daily work.
  • Miles Higgins, co-owner: precision cutting, trained in barbering. Miles trained in Vidal Sassoon and TONI&GUY cutting, and half of his haircuts are men’s cuts, from close fades to longer natural styles.
  • Amanda cuts men’s hair too, so you have four people to choose from.

Everyone who cuts here is Colorado-licensed or an apprentice training toward the license under a licensed stylist’s oversight, and the licenses are displayed in the salon.

What a Haircut Feels Like Here

Most men don’t pick a place for the cut alone. They pick it for how the whole visit goes: whether anyone listens, whether it’s rushed, and whether they walk out looking like themselves.

Here, the appointment is built around the chair, not the clock. Your stylist asks how you wear it on a normal morning and how long you need it to hold, we agree the plan, then we get to work. The stylist you book is the one who cuts your hair.

Many clients tell us that after a cut here, they never go back to a barbershop. That isn’t a knock on barbers. It tells us what people notice: being listened to, not being hurried, and a cut that still looks right three weeks later.

“In many ways, I believe we offer a better, more comfortable experience.” Miles Higgins, Co-Owner

Two of our Google reviews, in the clients’ own words, about Dylan:

“Highly recommend him for men’s haircuts.” Josh S.

“Men — he does specialize in men’s cuts.” Lejla O.

Men’s Haircut Prices in Broomfield

Every price below is the range across our stylists; the exact price depends on who you book.

Men’s haircut and color prices at Mahne Roots Collective
Service Price
Men’s Cut (includes wash and style) $58–$69
Beard trim (shaping and trim) $25
Grey Blending (grey-specific color for men) $195–$275
Men’s Cut + Color Booked as one of Vagaro’s combined “Hair Cut & Color” options; priced at booking

Some places in town charge less for a basic cut, and that’s fair to weigh. What $58–$69 covers here is a cut by someone trained at this level, the time to do it properly, and a comfortable room to do it in. Full pricing is on our Services & Pricing page.

Barbershop or Salon for a Men’s Haircut?

Either can be right, and a great fade from a great barber is a great fade. We’re a salon, not a barbershop. We do have a licensed barber, and Nicole and Miles are trained in barbering, but that doesn’t make us a barbershop. What it gives you is barber-level skill in a calmer, more comfortable salon, plus things a barbershop usually doesn’t offer:

  • scissor precision and longer shapes, including growing your hair out without an awkward stage;
  • grey blending, if you’d rather soften grey than buzz it away;
  • color and a cut planned together, under one roof.

Who to Book

Miles, Nicole, Dylan and Amanda all cut men’s hair. Request any of them by name when you book.

Nicole Higgins: men’s cutting, award-winning

North America’s 2016 Men’s Hairstylist of the Year; from clean, structured cuts to longer editorial shapes. More about Nicole.

The only barbering license on the team; a tight fade gets a barber’s approach, not a scaled-down regular haircut. More about Dylan.

Amanda: men’s cuts

Request her by name when you book. More about Amanda.

Grey Blending and Color for Men

There’s no separate men’s color menu: same services, same prices, whoever is in the chair. Grey blending ($195–$275) softens grey as it grows in rather than covering it flat, and it’s lower-maintenance than chasing roots every few weeks. Book color alongside a cut as one of the cut-and-color options in Vagaro so the two are planned together; we set the haircut portion to the men’s cut price at checkout.

Hair in the Colorado Climate

We sit higher and drier than almost anywhere in the country, and indoor winter heat is the harsher half: static, flyaways and a tight, itchy scalp. The answer is a shape that doesn’t depend on the weather, and the right product. For hair prone to frizz year-round, a Keratin Smoothing Treatment ($300–$350) is worth asking about at your appointment.
