Aveda, Davines & Us
Hello Lovelies,
Nikay here, and I want to talk about something we don't talk about enough: why we actually choose the products we put on your hair.
As some of you know, I have a fashion and editorial background. I earned my degree in Fashion Design from FIDM before I ever got my cosmetology license, and later in my career I led styling for fashion shows, Vogue editorials, and product campaigns, including work as USA Cutting Director for Balmain Hair Couture. That background is part of why we're picky about what actually goes into this salon.
Here's the thing about Colorado: we sit higher and drier than almost anywhere else in the country. The air here is thin, there's less oxygen, and moisture doesn't stick around the way it does most other places — it evaporates fast, off your skin, your hair, everything. A product that works fine somewhere humid can fall completely flat here. So when we're choosing what to carry, "it's popular" isn't enough. It has to actually hold up in this climate.
That's why we use Davines for color and Aveda for the rest of what goes on your hair here, and honestly, why we've moved on from lines we used to carry. Davines is, hands down, the best we've found for this climate. Their color pigment is Italian, and in our experience it gives the most natural-looking result of anything we've tried, without fading the way some color lines do against our sun and our dry air. Their ingredients are sustainably sourced from all over the world, real, high-quality, natural ingredients, not filler dressed up as a trend. Aveda's been rooted in plant-based ingredients and real sustainability since before it was trendy to even say that.
We didn't land here overnight, and we've changed our minds about products before when they stopped earning their spot on our shelves. That's not us being fickle. That's us actually paying attention to what happens to YOUR hair over months and years, not just what looks good in one appointment.
We cannot wait to sit you down in our chairs and show you what these products actually do for Colorado hair specifically, not hair in some humid photo shoot somewhere else. Let's smooth it out, gloss it up, or give you that bouncy blowout that actually survives our climate.
Bisous,
Nikay
