Is there an Aveda salon in Broomfield? Yes, and here's what that means for your hair
Yes. Mahne Roots Collective, at 11566 Colony Row in the Arista neighborhood of Broomfield, uses Aveda hair care to style your hair during your appointment and sells it in the salon to take home. Aveda is our hair care and styling line, not our color line: every color service here is done with Davines.
I'm Miles Higgins, and I co-own the salon with Nicole. Below is what "Aveda salon" means here, where Aveda fits in our own training, how to match an Aveda line to your hair, and what to ask any salon that uses the name, including ours.
What does "Aveda salon" mean at Mahne Roots?
People use the phrase two ways. Some mean a salon that colors with Aveda. Others mean a salon that uses Aveda hair care on you in the chair and sells it to take home. We are the second kind. Aveda's hair care is plant-based.
At Mahne Roots it means three things:
- Aveda is on our backbar. That is the shelf behind the chair, and it is what we style your hair with during your appointment.
- Aveda is sold in the salon. If you like how your hair feels when you leave, you can take Aveda home.
- Aveda education is part of our own history. More on that below.
The simple way to remember it:
| Aveda | Davines | |
|---|---|---|
| What it does here | Hair care and styling | Color |
| Used in your appointment | Yes, for styling | Yes, in every color service |
| Sold to take home | Yes | Yes (hair care) |
Do you use Aveda for color?
No. Our color line is Davines, and it is used in every color service we do, from a gloss to a full balayage. Aveda is for hair care and styling.
We run two brands on purpose. Color has to change the hair and then hold. Hair care and styling has to keep hair moving, hydrated and easy to manage afterward. We picked a brand for each job, both chosen for what works in Colorado's dry climate, instead of asking one line to do everything. Our Davines page and our Aveda page cover each one.
If Aveda color is specifically what you're after, that isn't us, and I'd rather you know that before you book than find out at the shampoo bowl.
Is Mahne Roots on Aveda's salon locator?
Yes. When you search "Broomfield, CO" on the salon locator at aveda.com, Aveda's own locator lists Mahne Roots Collective at 11566 Colony Row. I checked it on September 29, 2026.
Don't take my word for it: run the search yourself. It's the easiest way to check any salon's connection to the brand.
Why does Aveda matter to me personally?
Aveda is where my cutting education came from. I trained in Vidal Sassoon and TONI&GUY cutting through Aveda education, and I also spent two years in an assistant program at a Denver salon, cutting on real models every week. When I talk about Aveda, I'm talking about part of my own training, not reading a brochure.
What stuck with me is the discipline. A precision cut, the way I learned it, is a highly technical, exact measurement, a calculated angle and structured sectioning to create a clean, intentional shape. You are always following a guideline to continue an exact length. The cut sets the shape, and the styling product should help it hold, not fight it. Half of my haircuts are men's cuts, and the same thinking applies. There's more on my precision haircuts page.
Does Nicole have an Aveda background too?
Yes. Nicole has been an Aveda Institute educator. Her career also includes USA Cutting Director for Balmain Hair Couture, more than ten years of Paris and New York Fashion Week, and time in education leadership. Today she is our Creative Director. Her background is on her stylist page.
We've both spent real time on the education side of this industry, which is why we'd rather explain what a product is for than just tell you it's good.
Which Aveda products do you carry?
We carry what we find works best for our clientele and our Colorado environment. We don't like to hold on to products that we don't find as much of a need for.
So the shelf isn't a fixed list, and it isn't every item Aveda makes. It changes with what our clients actually need and what earns its place in this climate.
So the honest answer is: ask what's on the shelf when you're in. Tell your stylist what your hair is doing and what you're using now, and they can show you what we have that fits.
Which Aveda line fits my hair type?
Aveda sorts its own hair care by need. The names below are examples of Aveda's own line names as they appear on aveda.com. They are here to help you find your way around the brand, not a list of what's on our shelf today.
| If your hair is... | Examples of Aveda's own line names | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Dry | Nutriplenish (Light Moisture and Deep Moisture) | Aveda describes Light for fine to medium hair and Deep for medium to thick. |
| Damaged or heat-styled | Botanical Repair, Damage Remedy | Two strengthening lines with a similar goal. Which one fits depends on how your hair is behaving. |
| Fine or flat | Pure Abundance | Aveda's volumizing line. |
| Curly, coily or wavy | Be Curly Advanced | Aveda's curl-specific line. |
| Color-treated | Color Control | Comes in Light and Rich versions. |
| Blonde or grey, turning brassy | Blue Malva | Aveda describes it as counteracting brassiness. |
Weight matters more than people expect. A rich or deep formula on fine hair can feel heavy, and a light one on thick hair may not feel like enough. Match the need first, then the weight.
Curls are their own category. We reach for curl-specific lines, from Davines and from Aveda, rather than a general moisture product. In my view both brands have done a huge amount of testing to dial in their curl products. Nicole and I both have curl training, so this is a conversation we like having.
Scalp and thinning are where I stop. A stylist can tell you what your scalp looks like and suggest something to try. We can't diagnose a scalp condition or hair loss. If flaking won't go away, your scalp is red or scaly, or your part is widening, see a dermatologist first.
Why does Colorado change what works?
Colorado is dry, and drier still indoors in winter. It's also changeable. One day it's 100 degrees, the next it's snowing, and the day after that the snow is gone with a cold front coming in. Hair takes on and gives up moisture as the air changes, so a routine that works one week can feel wrong the next.
The most common thing I see is people switching products constantly, chasing a fix. Every switch resets the clock. Pick something that suits your hair, use it consistently, and give your hair time to settle before you judge it.
What should I ask any salon that calls itself an Aveda salon?
These work anywhere, and we'd want you to ask us the same ones.
- Are you on Aveda's salon locator? Search your city on aveda.com and see who appears.
- What do you use Aveda for: color, hair care, or both? Then ask what the color line is. A clear answer is a good sign.
- What will be used on my hair in the chair, and why? Someone who knows the line can tell you in a sentence.
- Can I buy what you used on me? If you like it, you should be able to take it home.
- How were your stylists trained? A salon that takes education seriously can tell you what that looked like.
- Will I know the price before we start? Ours are published on our price page.
How do I buy Aveda in Broomfield?
Aveda is sold in the salon during our opening hours, Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We're closed Sunday. We're at 11566 Colony Row, Broomfield, CO 80021, with free parking at the door.
What does a color appointment cost?
Color here is Davines, and every price is on our price page. Services run from a Gloss & Shine at $55–$85 up to a Complete Balayage, Total Blonde at $265–$355. The menu price covers one bowl of color, so longer, thicker or denser hair uses more and lands higher in the range, and the stylist you book sets where you land. You're told before the service starts. We're a commission salon, not booth rental, so every stylist's rate sits against one standard. For how balayage works here, see our balayage page.
To come in, use our booking page, or meet the team on our stylists page. We talk through the plan before we start, then we get to work.
